The minimum required thickness is calculated using the formula:
t = (P × R) / (S × E - 0.6P) + CA
Where:
- t = Minimum required thickness
- P = Internal design pressure
- R = Inside radius (D/2)
- S = Allowable stress
- E = Joint efficiency
- CA = Corrosion allowance

Applicability
This calculator applies to cylindrical shells under internal pressure as defined in ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code, Section VIII, Division 1. The calculation is valid for:
- Circular cylindrical shells
- Internal pressure loading
- Thickness ≤ 0.5 × inside radius
- Pressure ≤ 0.385 × S × E
