The more specific you are about the constraint, the more useful my first reply will be. I read everything and I answer within a couple of working days.
What I am actually good for.
An honest list is more use to both of us than a long one. If your problem is in the right-hand column I will say so and, where I can, point you at someone better.
Bring me this
- Mechanical and thermal design where failure is not an acceptable outcome
- Pressure-retaining equipment: ASME Section VIII, Section III, CSA B51
- High-temperature components — creep, fatigue, thermal expansion, load paths
- Data centre cooling and mechanical infrastructure, concept through commissioning
- Heat exchangers and thermal processing plant
- Design reviews that need somebody to argue with them properly
- Manufacturability and cost-down work that is not allowed to degrade the product
- Failure and root-cause investigation on mechanical hardware
- Design basis, specifications, drawings and configuration control
- Nuclear-quality documentation and licensing-aligned engineering content
Not my ground
- Electrical, controls or software design — I integrate with these, I do not do them
- Civil and structural building design
- Stamped engineering in a jurisdiction where I do not hold the licence
- Expert witness work
- Anything where the honest answer is already known and somebody wants a different one

Corrections welcome
Found an error in a calculator or a note?
Tell me and I will fix it, date the change and credit you. I would much rather be corrected in public than be confidently wrong in a design review.
