CoMakers Africa is a learning, collaborating and “making” environment, giving youths access to training, physical space and equipment for indigenous product development and innovation. It is a private non-profit community makerspace located in a pre-urban community in Nigeria.

The best way to construct knowledge and understanding is through the construction of something shareable.

The mission

To raise a new generation of inventors, scientists, engineers and innovators, inspired and equipped to develop indigenous solutions to meet local and global needs — and to transition them into successful entrepreneurship.

We offer the following to support that mission:

Access to shared physical spaces for collaborative making and creation of innovative products.
Access to shared equipment in hardware product development.
Equipment rental for limited-access members and non-members who want access to design and fabrication equipment without investing in capital equipment and long-term space leases.

Who we are

We are an indigenous makerspace located in a pre-urban area in Nigeria. Do you want to improve your skill? Do you want to start developing products for indigenous and global use? Are you making for the first time? It is time to join CoMakers Africa and see your ideas translate to reality through constructive collaboration, sharing and co-making.

What is taught

All classes are for people from the age of 15 and require membership. We also run open classes at weekends which do not require membership.

Computer-aided design. Basic product design and sketching, AutoCAD 2D and 3D, Inventor Professional, SolidWorks, Fusion 360.
Electronics and robotics. Arduino, Raspberry Pi, Atmel, robotics, DIY.
Fine and applied art. Drawing and sketching, painting, laser cutting and wood burning, graphics, sculpting.
Computer-aided manufacturing. 3D printing, laser cutting, CNC machining, circuit board printing.

CoMakers Africa gives opportunity to young people who are interested in making but cannot afford the full membership registration fee. We give these people the tools they need to make what they imagine. Without support, that part of the mission is far-fetched.
